GIANT PUMPKIN CONTEST 2026

Rules & Regulations

1. Eligibility

  • Open to all growers (youth and adults).

  • Pumpkins must be grown by the exhibitor.

2. Pumpkin Requirements

  • Pumpkins must be whole, sound, and free from cracks and excessive rot.

  • Minor surface blemishes are acceptable.

  • Pumpkins may be washed but no carving, painting, waxing, or artificial enhancement is allowed.

3. Weigh-In & Display

  • Official weigh-in will take place at the Washington County Fairgrounds during the ADK Wool & Arts Festival.

  • Pumpkins must be delivered by the designated check-in time (to be announced).

  • Pumpkins may be moved or handled only by contest officials during weigh-in for safety.

  • Once weighed, pumpkins may be placed on display for the duration of the festival.

4. Judging & Awards

  • Pumpkins will be judged by weight only.

  • The pumpkin with the greatest verified weight will be declared the winner.

  • Awards may include: Giant Pumpkin Champion, Reserve Champion, Youth Giant Pumpkin

  • In the event of a tie, pumpkins will be declared co-champions.

5. Safety & Handling

  • Exhibitors are responsible for safe delivery of their pumpkin to the contest area.

  • The Fair reserves the right to refuse entry to any pumpkin deemed unsafe to handle or display.

6. Liability

  • All entries are exhibited at the owner’s risk.

  • The Washington County Fair and ADK Wool & Arts Festival are not responsible for damage, loss, or injury related to entries.

7. Rule Changes

  • Contest officials reserve the right to interpret rules and make final decisions.

  • Any rule changes will be announced prior to judging
